Online Premiere: Roma Holocaust and Beyond – Ways of Hate and Humanity

By oecon_admin  Published On 17 June 2026

A new documentary exploring the Roma Holocaust through personal testimonies, family memories and expert perspectives will premiere online on 23 June 2026. Registration for the European online premiere is now open.

On 23 June 2026, audiences across Europe will have the opportunity to join the online premiere of Roma Holocaust and Beyond – Ways of Hate and Humanity, a documentary exploring one of the least known chapters of European history – the Roma Holocaust, also known as Samudaripen.

The documentary brings together personal testimonies, family memories and expert perspectives to shed light on the persecution of Roma communities during the Second World War and the devastating consequences of hatred, discrimination and exclusion. At the same time, it highlights stories of resilience, solidarity and humanity that continue to resonate today.

More than a historical documentary, the film invites viewers to reflect on the importance of remembrance and on our shared responsibility to uphold human dignity, democratic values and fundamental rights.

The online premiere will bring together viewers from across Europe for a shared viewing experience and reflection on a chapter of history that remains too often overlooked. Understanding these stories is essential not only for preserving historical memory but also for addressing contemporary challenges related to prejudice, discrimination and social exclusion.

The event will open with a brief introduction by the filmmakers and project partners, followed by the screening of the documentary.

By connecting historical experiences with contemporary challenges, it encourages reflection on the consequences of hatred, discrimination and exclusion while highlighting the importance of remembrance, solidarity and human dignity.

About the Project

ROMDIEM – Illuminating the Forgotten Stories of the Roma Holocaust brings together partners from across Europe to preserve testimonies related to the Roma Holocaust, strengthen historical awareness and promote dialogue on remembrance, inclusion and human rights.
