European Programs

Developing STEM Competences with Robotics (Robotics 4.0 All)”

Duration: 1 November 2018 – 31 October 2020 (24 months)
Partnership:
  • FIRST Scandinavia (Norway)
  • OECON GROUP (Bulgaria)
  • Dekaplus (Cyprus)
  • Inercia Digital (Spain)
  • Open Media Group (Croatia)
  • Robootika (Estonia)
  • Eduact (Greece)

Description:

Project “Robotics 4.0 All” aims to bring innovation and 21st century technologies in the teenagers’ education in seven European countries, from far north (Norway and Estonia) to south of Europe (Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Spain and Croatia). The project will introduce the development of STEM competencies through robotics education based on the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics.

We are in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution. The world and future working places will include automation, Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems, requiring a completely new set of skills not included in the current education of most European countries. If the new set of skills is not popularized and integrated in the educational systems of European countries, our youth will be in serious disadvantage in the future, as they will not be able to adjust to the employment requirements.

Kick-off meeting
in Norway

“Robotics 4.0 All” contributes to the necessary changes by implementing the following activities:

  • Analysis and needs assessment of STEM education and robotics education at primary and secondary level, including VET schools/programmes/trainings in the seven aforementioned countries, with recommendations for improvements;
  • Robotics curriculum based on LEGO Mindstorms, with the emphasis on the coding part as a foundation for further STEM and robotics education;
  • Transnational camp for the educators/trainers that will learn how to use the developed curriculum;
  • Robocamps at the local level in all seven countries for youngsters between 10 and 16 years old;
  • Transnational Tournament in Greece, with the participation of youngsters from all countries (two teams of four from each participating country);
  • Methodology for the recognition of learning outcomes within the ECVET system.

The project is co-financed by the ERASMUS+ programme KA-202-Strategic partnerships for vocational education and training, under the auspices of DIKU – Norway’s official agency for international programmes and measures related to education.
