Meet Lyudmil Yordanov | Caftwork4.0All

OECON Group Bulgaria proudly supported the participation of Bulgarian artist Lyudmil Yordanov in the Craftwork4.0All Craft Academy “Stone & Soul: Sustainable Lithography, Linoleum & Paper for Contemporary Artists,” held at Sensus Stockholm Academy from 05–07 September 2025.

Lyudmil Yordanov is a traditional craft artist specializing in Kukeri mask-making, a centuries-old Bulgarian tradition rooted in ritual, mythology, and cultural heritage. Coming from a family of artisans who have been creating carnival masks for more than fifty years, Lyudmil founded his own workshop Yordanovi ART, where he produces unique, entirely handmade masks using natural materials and expressive wood combinations.

Through the European project Craftwork4.0All, in which OECON Group Bulgaria is a partner, Lyudmil took part in the Craft Academy residency “Stone & Soul.” During the three-day program, he explored sustainable printmaking techniques such as lithography and linocut, collaborated with artists from across Europe, and experimented with eco-conscious materials.

For Lyudmil, the residency was both a creative and personal milestone. It allowed him to connect traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic practices, gain new perspectives on sustainability, and gather inspiration for his future work and teaching.

Today, he continues to preserve and innovate within the Kukeri tradition, building bridges between ancestral craft and modern artistic expression.
