Sustainability in the Art World – Joseph Beuys

Joseph Beuys famously declared that “everyone is an artist,” encouraging creativity and activism to shape our world.
His work transcended conventional boundaries, reflecting concepts of humanism, sociology, and environmental consciousness.

One of Beuys’s most impactful projects was 7000 Oaks” (German: 7000 Eichen). In 1982, he planted 7,000 oak trees throughout Kassel, Germany, each paired with a basalt stone. These stones, initially piled outside the Fridericianum museum, were removed as each tree found its place.
